Hello, my name is Emily Saucier. I am a certified infant sleep consultant and I have been a nurse for 10 + years. I am a mom of two babies myself. I was once the mother of a baby who was waking hourly through the night, and now she sleeps all through the night. Even my baby sleeps peacefully. I became a sleep consultant because I know how it feels to be exhausted from waking all night long with a baby while working full time and also being pregnant. Sleeping well is the key to being happy and healthy. I want to help you and your family with a holistic approach to achieving the sleep you deserve.

Parents will fill out a detailed intake form that will include many questions on everything from your parenting style to your baby's personality. I will also want to know what your goals and needs are for your individual family. After I have carefully reviewed your families intake form we will schedule an online video call and discuss your baby's sleep in more detail. You will then receive a detailed sleep plan. I will have periodic scheduled check in's and I will be available to chat via text or email throughout the implementation period.
There are a multitude of sleep "training" methods out there. I will create a custom template for you and your little one to help them become restful sleepers. I will use a holistic approach to creating a plan that takes into account many factors about you and your little one(s).
Babies are all very unique. Every family and their needs are also very different. Once I get to know you and your little one, I will be able to predict a timeline for you and your child. There are a multitude of variables that contribute to infant sleep success that placing a strict timeline on would be an unfair expectation to both the parents and the child. However, I will work with you and your family to find a solution that works for your unique family.
Ideally, babies from a very early age can learn healthy and safe sleep habits. Formally starting to sleep train is usually best to begin around 4 months of age, but this does not mean you have missed the opportunity if your baby is older.
This is a question many parents struggle with throughout parenthood. Sleep training is often thought of as taboo and can very frequently be considered cruel. However, sleep training is actually responding to your baby/ child. You as the parent are responsible for teaching your baby to sleep. When you make the conscious effort to facilitate sleep, you are not neglecting your baby's needs. Based on your parenting style and preferences I will help you choose how you want to sleep train your style. You are the captain of the ship. It is entirely up to you how and when you will sleep train your baby. On another note, sleep quality is absolutely going to influence your personal mental health. When you are rested, you will notice an improvement in your ability to be a more gentle and responsive, and patient parent. I can tell you from experience, when you are chronically exhausted yourself, your job and your homelife will suffer. When the household is sleeping better and getting longer stretches of sleep, your life will improve drastically.
The long and short answer is "yes." It is likely your baby will cry while sleep- training. However, you can and shoulc respond to your baby. Sleep training is helping to teach your baby to self soothe by inserting your calmness. As a parent, you are naturally a safe space for your baby. Babies are not cognitively able to self regulate early on. Babies need your help to soothe themselves. Repeated experiences of responsiveness will teach your baby to eventually self regulate in time.
